Dr. Robert Sigal, MD is a board-certified plastic surgeon with decades of surgical experience who performs Facial Feminization Surgery (FFS) at Austin-Weston, The Center for Cosmetic Surgery in Reston, Virginia. His FFS procedures address several areas of the face, including the hairline, forehead, brow, nose, cheeks, chin and jaw.

Dr. Sigal also performs Tracheal Shave, giving patients the option to address the prominence of the Adam's apple as part of their facial and neck feminization goals.

Facial Feminization Procedures

Dr. Sigal offers FFS procedures for the upper, middle and lower face, as well as Tracheal Shave:

• Hairline Correction - changes the position or contour of the hairline to alter the proportions of the forehead and upper face.
• Forehead Recontouring - reshapes the forehead and brow region to create a smoother, more feminine contour.
• Brow Lift - raises and repositions the eyebrows to change the appearance of the brow and upper face.
• Rhinoplasty - reshapes the nose to alter its size, profile, projection or proportions in relation to the rest of the face.
• Cheek Augmentation - adds volume and definition to the cheeks and midface.
• Chin Recontouring - reshapes the chin to modify its width, projection or overall contour.
• Jaw Recontouring - reshapes the lower jaw to change its width and the contours of the lower face.
• Tracheal Shave - reduces the prominence of the thyroid cartilage, commonly known as the Adam's apple.

Because FFS is individualized, a surgical plan may focus on a particular facial region or incorporate several procedures intended to change facial proportions together.

Planning FFS with Dr. Sigal

During a Facial Feminization Surgery consultation, patients can discuss which facial features they would like to change and the procedures Dr. Sigal offers for those areas.

Both virtual and in-person consultations are available. The consultation fee is $100 and is credited toward surgery.

Typical scheduling is:

• Consultation: 3-6 weeks
• Surgery: 4-8 weeks after consultation

Dr. Sigal performs surgery at Austin-Weston's private surgical facility in Reston, Virginia. He is also affiliated with Inova Health System.

Facial Feminization & Tracheal Shave Cost

Current starting prices are:

• Facial Feminization Surgery: $12,050
• Tracheal Shave: $9,500

These prices are estimates as of September 2025. Surgical fees include the surgeon, anesthesia, operating room, recovery garments, and pre- and post-operative visits. The exact cost of FFS depends on the procedures included in the surgical plan and is determined following consultation.

Payment can be made by cash, credit card or check, and CareCredit financing is available. Insurance, Medicaid and Medicare are not accepted.

FFS Surgery Requirements

Requirements may include:

• Medical clearance depending on medical history
• Smoking cessation for at least one month before surgery
• Applicable WPATH-based surgical criteria
• One or two referral letters from a qualified mental health professional, as required
