Dr. Dev Gurjala, MD is a board-certified plastic surgeon in San Francisco who offers Facial Feminization Surgery at his dedicated Gender Surgery practice. Prior to joining Align Surgical Associates in 2019, Dr. Gurjala spent five years performing gender surgery, microsurgery, and general reconstructive and aesthetic surgery in the Kaiser Permanente system in California.

Facial Feminization Surgery (FFS), also more recently called Facial Gender Confirmation Surgery, is a group of surgical procedures that help feminize facial features. For example, Rhinoplasty feminizes the nose. A Lip Lift can give you a more feminine smile, which has a great impact on the overall facial appearance. Hairline Correction, Forehead Recontouring and Brow Lift are procedures that feminize the upper part of the face. As all three procedures use the same incision, they can be performed together, which typically improves results.

Education & Memberships
Dr. Gurjala is board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Additionally, he has fellowship training in Microsurgery from Stanford University and served as a Research Fellow at Northwestern's Laboratory for Wound Repair and Regenerative Medicine. Dr. Gurjala obtained his medical degree, undergraduate degree in Neurobiology and Cognitive Science, and a Master of Science in Engineering Design and Innovation at Northwestern University in Illinois.
Dr. Gurjala is a member of the World Professional Association of Transgender Health (WPATH), and a presenter at transgender conferences.

Surgery Requirements
You will need to provide two letters of support from mental health therapists, and a letter from your primary care physician or endocrinologist; must have been living in your desired gender for at least a year; must have been taking hormones for a year, unless clinically contraindicated.
