Dr. Daniel J. Freet, MD, FACS, is a board-certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon who offers a full range of Facial Feminization Surgery (FFS) procedures at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. With extensive experience in complex craniofacial and microsurgical procedures, Dr. Freet provides facial gender surgery in a supportive, inclusive environment as part of the University of Iowa Health Care LGBTQ Clinic.
Dr. Freet is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) and the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH). As a key member of a multidisciplinary gender care team, he collaborates closely with primary care providers, mental health professionals, and allied specialists to ensure a seamless, patient-centered experience.

Surgery Requirements
Dr. Freet follows the WPATH Standards of Care for gender-affirming surgery. Depending on the procedure and individual circumstances, one or two letters from qualified mental health providers may be required.

The University of Iowa accepts a wide range of insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. Patients are encouraged to confirm coverage specifics directly with the UI Health Care billing department prior to scheduling.
