Facial Feminization Surgeon Fellowship-Trained In Craniofacial Surgery
Dr. Gerhard S. ("Sol") Mundinger, MD, MBA, is a board-certified plastic surgeon with broad training and expertise in craniofacial and Facial Feminization Surgery. Dr. Mundinger joined the Austin branch of the Crane Center for Transgender Surgery in 2021, where he offers the full spectrum of Facial Feminization procedures.
In addition to three undergraduate degrees and a medical doctorate from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Dr. Mundinger also spent two years training with craniofacial microsurgeon Dr. Eduardo Rodriguez, focusing on face and hand transplantation. He subsequently completed a craniofacial surgery fellowship at Seattle Children's Hospital / Harborview Medical Center. Dr. Mundinger served as the Director of Plastic Surgery and the Craniofacial Center Director at the Children's Hospital of New Orleans and as the Associate Plastic Surgery Residency Director at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center. He received additional training in Facial Feminization Surgery with FacialTeam in Marbella, Spain.
Dr. Mundinger is board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Before joining the Crane Center, Dr. Mundinger founded the NOLA Transgender Institute, improving access to surgical care for transgender patients in New Orleans and the Gulf South.

- Accepts credit/debit cards, cashier's check, money order, wire transfer and medical financing via CareCredit.
- In-network with Cigna PPO, Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO, Commercial United Healthcare PPO, and Employer Health Network (Whole Foods).
- Bills as an out-of-network provider with Aetna, Group Health, Harvard Pilgrim, HealthPartners and Medica.
- Medicare, Medicaid, Tri-Care, Kaiser, Ambetter and Oscar Health are not accepted.

Dr. Mundinger is available for phone or in-person consultations in Austin. If insurance is out-of-network, then the cost of the consultation is $200. If in-network, the consultation fee is the specialist co-pay. An in-person consultation is not required for booking a surgery date.
Current wait list: 4-6 weeks for a consultation, 5-6 weeks for a surgery date.
